What URL should I put in?
The direct link to a sitemap XML file, e.g. https://example.com/sitemap.xml — not the site's homepage. Use the Sitemap Finder & Checker tool first if you don't know the URL.
What happens if I paste a sitemap index instead of a regular sitemap?
Some sites split their sitemap into several files, listed in a sitemap INDEX. We'll detect that, list the child sitemap URLs instead of pages, and tell you to re-run this tool against one of those to get its actual page list.
Is there a limit on how many URLs it can extract?
No — every <loc> entry in the sitemap you provide is listed, one per line, regardless of how many there are.
